Safety Management Services provides employee safety training on many different compliance topics. Sessions are scheduled as to not interfere with production through input. Confined Space
Designed to meet the specifications of the OSHA Standard on confined space entry, this course will give the student the skills necessary to enter and work inside a confined space such as a manhole, tank, pit, or similar enclosure. Our goal in this course is to equip the student to work safely- not simply to meet the minimum required by OSHA. In order to do so, we combine classroom discussion and demonstration of the typical equipment needed to perform the entry.

Lockout/Tagout
Control of hazardous energy commonly referred to as lockout/tagout and is a strictly enforced OSHA Standard. One of the key aspects of the regulation is the training of all authorized employees (those using the procedure to perform lockout/tagout work). Authorized employees must be trained to properly use energy control procedures to safely perform maintenance, servicing, or installation work where hazardous energy could cause an injury. The course leads the student through the key aspects of a written lockout/tagout program and energy control steps. The class includes a demonstration of typical lockout/tagout devices.

Forklift Training
According to OSHA all employees who operate a Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift) must be trained and certified prior to operation. In this course, Safety Management Services, Inc. instructors will train the student in the skills needed to safely operate a standard gas, propane or electric forklift. Hands-on demonstration using the forklift is necessary to be certified in this class. Note: *Forklift training is done on-site and the forklift needs to be available.

One of the most commonly used tools to determine how to safely perform a task or job is the Job Safety Analysis (JSA). This tool allows an individual to easily review job methods to uncover hazards. Trenching & Excavation (Competent Person)
Trenching & excavation is some of the most dangerous work in the construction industry, but can be safe with some basic training. Each trenching or excavation work site has to have an individual who is a competent person. This course covers: sloping, benching, shoring and trench shields, how to inspect for potential cave-ins, hazardous atmospheres, and underground installations. We demonstrate how an employee can be injured and how easily this can be prevented. This class includes soil testing and classifications.

Work Zone Safety
Work zones can be dangerous and improper traffic control can lead to accidents, injuries and lawsuits. This course incorporates current traffic control standards issued by DOT and is oriented to field personnel. It includes workshop problems of typical construction activities. The course allows participants to understand the accident potential and legal liability associated with traffic control in work zones, the importance of complying with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) and trains participants to prepare simple traffic control plans for work zones based on TMUTCD applications.

Respiratory Fit-Test
Before an employee may be required
to use any respirator with a negative or positive pressure tight
fitting facepiece, the employee must be fit tested with the same make,
model, style, and size of respirator that will be used. Employees using
tight-fitting facepiece respirators must pass an appropriate
qualitative fit test (QLFT) or quantitative fit test (QNFT). The
employer must ensure that an employee using a tight- fitting facepiece
respirator is fit tested prior to initial use of the respirator,
whenever a different respirator facepiece (size, style, model, or make)
is used, and at least annually thereafter.

MSHA New Miner
This course is designed to assist you in meeting Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Part 46 annual refresher requirements. Part 46 applies to shell dredging, sand, gravel, surface stone, surface clay, colloidal phosphate, and surface limestone mines. If your work is in other MSHA regulated operations or you are an independent contractor that operates in other types of mining operations, you may be required to complete Part 48 training instead.
Whether you are a miner or an independent contractor, there are sections within the Part 46 training that must address issues of your specific operation. This course offers special instruction that will help you do that as well as provide training for the more generic MSHA recommended topics. In addition, it will help you accomplish your ultimate goal beyond MSHA compliance: to keep you safe in mine work areas.
You should be aware of what regulations cover your activity at the mine. There may be additional training requirements or stipulations not covered here.
You must have a copy of your company's training plan or know the time constraints for each topic of study and be sure your study meets the minimum hours outlined in your particular plan. Note that while this course covers the majority of subjects recommended for the refresher training, you must also fulfill some of the training requirements outside the scope of this course. For example, the regulations (46.8(b)) require a review of your site-specific hazards. The total time of study spent on the refresher must be a minimum of eight hours.
The course design here closely matches the template for Part 46 training provided by MSHA. When completed, your training will need to be certified by the person in your company responsible for mine safety and health training.

HAZWOPER 24 Hour First Responder
The 24-hour course is designed for persons who respond to a hazardous materials incident for the purpose of stopping, containing, controlling and cleaning up the release. This level of training is also appropriate for persons performing limited tasks at an uncontrolled hazardous waste site and who are unlikely to be exposed above permissible exposure limits. This training meets all OSHA requirements for the Hazardous Material Technician (29 CFR 1910.120).

HAZWOPER 8 Hr. Refresher
The goal of this OSHA mandated training is to provide personnel involved with the clean-up of hazardous waste sites the knowledge to safely work in a hazardous environment.
This course is intended to assist in satisfying the annual training requirement of the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) rule, found in Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1910.120. The standard was specifically developed to protect workers that may be exposed to hazardous waste at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites and at EPA licensed waste treatment, storage and disposal facilities; as well as workers responding to emergencies involving hazardous materials, such as spills.
